Is it in vogue to not take your husband's name?

In the last few years due to facebook I am in touch with more people than usual, and I have noticed that many newly married women have decided to keep their own name, and if they do take the new name, it is hyphenated with the new last name in the middle, like: Jane New name Doe. How long do you think it will be before women don't even bother taking a new name?
