Alright, I have a question about writing/journalism?

So I'm 14, a freshman, and pretty much our life goes on transcripts all the way throughout highschool. My transcript probably looks boring now (considering I was cut from the basketball team this year), but next year I plan to start out new. Yeah, I know September's a long time from now, but I like to plan things in advanced. I enjoy writing. I like writing my own stories and stuff - thing is, I don't do so well in English when it comes to writing those critical essays. I do well in making up my own stories (honestly), not comprehension and literature. Because of this, could I still major in English? What cles will I have to take in high school/college in order to become a journalist? By the way, for the sopres and upperclmen, they have the school paper so I'm thinking of doing that? Good idea, or no? Please, help. Sorry for this being so freaking long.
