How do all these nba players have so much time to play bball as a kid?

we all hear stories about them playing for like 4-6 hours a day as a kid. shouldn't they have been doing homework? i mean, less than .01% of people will make it professionally, let alone to the NBA. maybe that's why more than half of them will work at mcdonalds
