Does anyone no anything about "own recognizance"?

My boyfriend is locked up in Elk Grove at the ranch..and he told me something about "own recognizance"..hes in there for burglary and possestion and stolen items..this is his first time ever being in trouble and hes only 19yrs old..doyou think he'll be let out on that?or just released???please help..thanks
